Streaming iPad wirelessly to smart board

i have an iPad in my music classroom which I project with air server to a smart board. Problem is that when I use garage band, the audio is horribly laggy and it simply isn't functional.

I was wondering if there was some way to improve the wireless connection so that I can stream wirelessly but maintain functionality. Would Apple TV or airport express make the connection better than being on a general wifi? The computer in question is also not the best.
