Bought a Macbook a few weeks ago, absolutely loving my first Mac so far!
Only thing is I like to use it to watch DVDs without being wired up - which is great, but I rip all my DVDs to my PC's 500gb hard drive. I'd like to be able to stream the files (which are generally xvid avis) to my macbook over my wireless network.
I hoped it would be as simple as sharing my movies folder, and opening it in quicktime/vlc, and at first this appeared to be the case - but it seems that after 30 minutes or so of playback, the video always freezes. The sound keeps on playing but the video dies, and I have to stop the movie, play, and track back to where I left off for it to start working again.
I could use something like Orb to stream via flash, but I'd prefer something that would allow me to keep the quality.
Hope this all makes sense
