streaming movies to smart tv issues

have a 2012 macbook air 4gb ram 256 mb hd.
having problems streaming movies (kodi) to my samsung smart tv, tried air play through my apple tv3.
the only is the movie pauses & stop on the smart tv buy is fine on my macbook air.
so I tried using mini video out to hdmi to my smart tv. it does work but I loose 1/4 of the width and height of the picture. anyone have any ideas.

I think you have just too much technology involved just to watch a movie. You have over complicated everything beyond what is normal.

I have an older Samsung Smart TV that's been working better than ever streaming movies via the Plex app.
