Streaming My Movies from HDD to Samsung Smart BluRay Player

Hello,
I'm new to Mac, I just bought a MacBook Air, I've had an iPhone for 2 years. I have a bunch of my movies that I digitized and have them loaded onto an external Hard Drive. I want to stream them from that HDD to my smart BluRay Player (Samsung BD-J5700). I see so much info online but it all seems to be either useless or utilizing some site that is a scam or charges when they claim to be free.

Does it appear in the Finder Sidebar under Shared?

When you say stream, do you mean that you are streaming via a DNLA server to the Samsung? If using the hard drive, are you connecting the hard disk directly to the unit, or is it a network drive, or ....

i use Serviio to stream to my sony BR player.
also if it has USB you can just plug in a drive (but format of drive may matter)
