streaming my music through the whole house

hi, how would i be able to stream all my music through my house?

like i mean, be in my computer room, listening to music.

then decide to go in the basement to do the laundry, and still be able to hear the same song playing in the basement?

if its possible i would like to stream my music wireless.

what devices would i need?

A wireless router, and an Apple AirPort Express (with powered speakers) in each room.

You're not saying how or on what you want to be able to hear the music. There's several ways I think. An FM modulator, which can transmit the music to several FM radios in the house.

You can also get an Airport Express which can be connected to a stereo and stream it via AirTunes.

I think the point is you put an AE in each room that you want music in. So it would probably cost a bit, but a lot less than a B&O solution...

Investigate Logitech Squeezebox products. Work well with Macs and iTunes and your existing WiFi network.

if you have some money to spend, the sonos system is amazing.

If that's out of your price range, an airport express in each room you want music would work, and an ipod touch, along with the remote app, would work to control your music wirelessly.

You could buy Airfoil, which lets you stream music to any computer, or your iPhone/iPod Touch. If there is still wifi connection in the room you're going into, you can open the Speakers app (a free airfoil client for the iPhone/Touch) that plays music from your computer, then plug it into a dock or any 3.5mm jack to your audio system.

Problem solved, without buying any hardware.

Sure, the app doesn't run in the background (JB is always an option), but at least you have the option of running the Remote app to control iTunes.

As an added bonus, when you're running this app, it will be playing music through your iPhone's speakers when you're moving from room to room, then you plug it into the audio system and bam! seamless.
