I just stumbled on this article. It is particularly interesting for me because I lived and worked in Saudi for 10 years. The irony is high end photography kit is available for sale everywhere, and you're always having your photo taken at formal meetings. I know a photojournalist who spent some time in Saudi during one of the Gulf wars, he was punched in the face by his security detail for commenting the Saudi women have beautiful eyes!
Downtown Al Khobar, Batha in Riyadh, the corniches on the coasts, lots of the smaller towns all have great photography potential. There could be some great documentary and street work being done there. For me, it still seems too risky to march around with a camera........
