Is there any way of getting this to work? I don't see why it would be disabled but it certainly seems to be. I am pretty computer literate but I can't for the life seem to figure it out.

I don't want to use google earth as it wrecks the iPad hogging memory!

I can get street view on my iPhone. Hope the same method works for the iPad. The way I do it is I "Search" the place and not press the "Arrow" button that is used to get directions. Then after finding the place, tap on the bottom bar and you will see the street view.

I have an iPad mini right here.

You have to actually type an address. The search results will come up. Tap on the address you want. Now you'll see street view.

If you just drop a pin anywhere it won't give you street view.

Try searching for a mall or something. Tap any result. You'll see street view.

Let me take some pictures of it. I'll be back.

Dropping a pin on a road wasn't working for me initially but after doing a soft reset of the ipad it started working again.

I do get a longish black screen pause when launching the app which wasn't the case with iOS 7.1.2

Thanks my friend but it doesn't work. I'm using the google maps app on the iPad Air. I can only assume you're using a different app.

Probably because you're using Apple Maps and not Google Maps. That is not the Google Maps user interface. Google maps doesn't have the airdrop icon (that is an Apple feature only), nor does it allow you to create or add contacts from the menu you have open. The UI for routing directions is also completely different on Google Maps. Apple Maps does not have street view

Look a little more carefully on your phone and make sure you have Google Maps installed.

Drop a pin on the map. Click on the address box that pops up and then choose street view.
