If 'everything' was the same, spec's, price etc and the only difference was the size of the screen what size would you choose for your primary laptop?

13, 15 or 17"?

Depends on how/where you're going to use your laptop. Smaller is better for portability, and larger is more conformable for home use.

Personally I'd pick the 13" or 15", I think 17" is kind of overkill for a laptop.

17" if it has an appropriate resolution (whatever that means) unlike the exact same spec as 13" or 15" with a poorer resolution.

17", because 15" and 13" are for girls and asthmatics who complain about weight and don't want their fragile shoulders to buckle under the strain.

So true!! Sounds like everyone here is hobbit's and or not active at all.

I would personally choose 17" for desktop replacement and 15" for the perfect blend of power, screen real estate, and portability.

+1

17" has wide screen, but it is really heavy if you will travel for long distance carrying it with you. 15" is best combination between size and practically.

If the choice is mine I will go for the 17" because I don't travel a lot and most of the time I carry it for short distance.

good poll. i just hope people dont vote for what they have. for me the 15 does not work. its not small enough to be ultra portable but not big enough to do alot of work. i dont understand why so many get a monitor, mouse, and keyboard for a laptop. just get the base mbp and a 27 inch imac.

17in. because i would love to have a nice big screen and i don't travel much and even if i did, the MBP 17 is much lighter than other 17" laptops. and well, i would just love that!:D

It's a bit surprising that the 13" and 17" are about equal in preference right now. I would have expected the 13" to outpace the 17" by a fair margin.

I owned a 17" before my 15", & it was just way too much of a hassle to lug around.
The 15" does everything I need it to do, but is a lot easier to take to school, a friend's house, etc. :)
Personally, I can't stand small screens on a laptop. I feel like the 15" is a happy medium when it comes to screen size. Not big enough to be a nuisance in public/crowded places, & not small enough to make me squint my eyes when I try to read the news.
I can see why 17" would suit more people, seeing as they replace their desktop with it. Since I have an iMac that I do most of my work with, it has never been an issue.

It's a bit like owning a house. Until you live in a mansion, you will be happy with what you have in size, probably.

Most people get used to what they have, so whatever size it is I'm sure you will love it in your own way. People who have 13" love them (I do), people who have 17" love them.

If you live in a small country cottage then you love it, same goes for someone owning a mansion! It doesn't matter what size you have, they are all 'workable'.

(13" for me :) )

17 is the mansion

probably the 15. my 14 inch Dell is seeming to get slightly too small and i don't really think I wanna go smaller when I get a MBP next year for college. Bring on a high res 15 inch :apple:
