I have been having a few issues with browsing being slow so I Option-Clicked Airport and it says I have 86 signal strength but the Transmit Rate is 18.

Any reasons for that and can I do anything about it?

There is only 1 wifi which is mine and maybe another.

My router is a Netgear DG834G

On iMac Airport Menu it says RSSI = -87 and Macbook RSSI = -74

Which is better

The Macbook has a better Transmit Rate than the iMac

Ok I sussed that the lower the RSSI the better and the higher the Transmit Rate the better.

I just tested it and I think its partly router partly iMac. I put the router right next to the router and I got full Transmit Rate but the RSSI was still -52. I would of thought that would be nearer zero.

So ideally the router needs to be closer but is there something wrong with my Airport seeing as it was still -52 when touching the router?
