Hi you all,
I've been through 3 pairs of Sony True Wireless Earbuds (two XM3s and one XM4) and all of them would start out fine, but then within 1 month, each started having connection issues with my Macbook Pro 15" 2018 running Mojave. At first I was blaming Sony, but after this happening to my third pair in a row within the first month of use, I'm suspicious of my macbook pro.
The buds randomly disconnect, and then reconnect a second later. Sometimes they repeat this multiple times in a row in the span of half a minute. Two or three times. It's very distracting, and sometimes it doesn't reconnect on its own. This behavior did not happen at first while owning them, but suddenly appeared after 1-3 weeks. Oddly, this only occures when audio isn't playing. If audio is playing, it doesn't happen.
All three buds were fully updated, and I never dropped any of them. I had selected settings to optimize their connection stability, and wasn't using any crazy features that might slow them down. I factory reset each of them multiple times, and the disconnections didn't improve. I also wasn't using them near microwaves or other interfering devices. And I typically only have the buds connected, and no other bluetooth devices nearby, except (occasionally) a bluetooth gamepad when I play games.
Yet, strangely enough, I had a V-Moda Crossfade headset for years, and also cheaper headsets prior, and none of those ever had issues with my Macbook Pro.
Yesterday, I tried using Mac's bluetooth debug menu to reset the bluetooth module, and I removed all devices and even did an SMC reset, but after doing so, I've still experienced disconnections twice, while sitting right in front of my computer.
What would you all do in my situation? Any clue what I might be doing wrong? (And before anyone asks, I need earbuds that are wireless, wired just doesn't suit my daily activities). (PS: I don't have an iPhone or iPad, so I wouldn't have much freedom with Airpods Pro if I got them)
