Having had more time to play with the track detection, race route, and pacer features of WatchOS 9.3, I gotta say I'm loving it. Those experiences make me further wonder about the Stryd Nextgen pod. I posted an anonymous question to Stryd's facebook community, but also wonder if those of you who use Stryd here have any comments. I'll post the lengthy narrative below (but it really is asking a simple question):
Help me understand if there is any way to combine both the use of the Stryd pod/Stryd app (on Apple Watch), and the native Apple Watch workout app. I understand that the native Apple workout app is not going to make use of or record activities of the Stryd pod, so that's not what I'm asking about.
My basic question is, to make use of the Stryd pod and its various predictions, is it necessary that Apple Watch users always use the Stryd app for their runs?
My scenario: with the WatchOS 9.3 upgrade, Apple has come out with a brilliant feature, track detection, that works so well when running intervals on an athletic track (in the US). I want to keep using that app when I do my interval workouts on the track.
For other running situations, I can use the Stryd watch app and pod. (However, WatchOS 9.3 also has a Race Route feature in which it records how you compete against set routes and I love using that feature too.)
So if on certain occasions I use the native Apple Watch app (for track workouts, race route competitions) and other occasions I use the Stryd Watch app, will this "mess up" Stryd's intended features? Or, is it able to read and take into account data that comes from the native Watch app?
I notice that Strava might be a medium that helps transfer data from Apple Health to Stryd, so perhaps that could solve some issues?
Looking forward to any insight on this. I don't own a Stryd pod but have been pondering about it and trying to see how it could work (or would it?) with the way I would still like to use the native Apple Watch workout app. Its track detection feature is awesome, and I've been having fun with its race route feature and pacer feature too.
