I was having a series of odd problem with Microsoft Office... I then decided to erase the HD and start all over again.

When installing a clean version of Mountain Lion my Imac is getting stuck at 10%. I've restarted and can't get past that.

Any ideas/suggestions before I make an appointment at the Genius bar?

thanks.

If your machine is 2010+ you should have internet recovery to test from. Do a command-option-r boot to internet recovery and use disk utility to verify the disk and see what you get. Often the install hanging like this is a failing drive.

Why don't you repartition your drive into at least 2 and reinstall the copy of you hard drive you made before you erased the drive. You can always delete the MS Office app and see if that takes care of your problem. Have you swapped out any components in machine since you installed MT Lion the first time ? Sounds like a compatibility issue.
