Stuck at Downloading messages from iCloud

I got my 12 Pro Max today, set up from iCloud backup, and everything was set up and synced quickly and all seemed is well. The only issue is in the messages app, it’s been stuck at ‘downloading messages from iCloud’ for hours now without any change. All messages seem to be there in the overview, but media (photos and videos) within the messages are not downloaded. I have been able to manually go into each message, click on the i icon, and manually download media for each pretty quickly, but the banner in the landing page is still stuck. Any suggestions?

ive tried restarting the phone multiple times, tried turning messages off and on in iCloud settings, even tried hard reset and restore from backup again but with no change.
(This is my first time posting here so I apologize in advance if I do something wrong)

I have my new 12 mini and same issue. I left it over night and still nothing. Hope this sorts itself out.

Having the same issue where none of my attachments are showing up except for maybe one or two before I swapped over to my 12 pro max and only the ones i've sent after I started using the 12 Pro Max no idea how to fix toggled messages on and off in iCloud and through siri search still nothing

Anybody ever fix this, it’s happening on my iPad suddenly - I’m aware this is a old thread
