Hi all,

I recently used a safe exam browser for my faculty test and now I can't quit it. When I quit the browser, it goes to the endless loop of loading. I power shut down my mac but now, the safe exam browser starts up when mac starts and when I try to quit, it goes into loading loop again.

SYSTEM SPECS:

MACBOOK M1 AIR

SSD: 256GB

RAM:8GB

SAFE EXAM BROWSER 3.0

Even after a "Force quit"?
Force quit doesn't work at all. This is why I power shut down but when mac starts , it does startup with it and I have to power shut down again because can't operate at all, it blocks everything expect safe browser window.

Do you still have access to other apps from the dock etc?
If you do try going into settings ( the gear wheel) and then find 'users and groups'
There you'll find a tab: 'login items' and with a bit of luck the browser will be there and then if you can remove it from loading at start up then rebooting should fix the problem.

Otherwise if it really does block everything then maybe you can get rid of it if you start up in safe mode?
For an M1 that should be:
Shut down and wait 10 seconds
Press down the power button until the startup options and the Options gear icon appear on the screen.
Choose your startup disk.
Hold down the Shift key and click Continue in Safe Mode. Then, release the Shift key.

Never tried that method myself so you might need some more research.
Maybe in safe mode you can delete it or remove it from loading at start up?

Safe Mode worked, thank you very much!

Yikes. This sounds like they basically made you install malware on your machine. God knows what else it's doing behind the scenes.
