Heya,

Silly me tried earlier today to force a dvd into the player. Now, that worked quite easily.. I had a great time watching the film, but i cant say i feel so great anymore.

The dvd is stuck.

I have googled for hours and searched through apple's homepage. After a long talk with employees at apple, the dvd is still stuck in my mac os x.

However, they suggested i enter a tread here! obviously the people at this forum are better at mac than those working there..

So please, please! Do anyone of you have any super tips for me to get the dvd out? I'm just about to try anything!!

Thanks, I appreciate any suggestions!!

Have you tried the following guide?

Also Mac OS X is the name of the operating system, not the computer.

Apple has the following computers in their line-up:

iMac
MacBook
MacBook Pro
Mac Mini
MacBook Air - although no internal optical drive
Mac Pro

iBook
PowerBook
PowerMac
eMac

Seems my 6u is sucking flow.

What Mac do you have anyway?

^^^^
MacDawg already pointed out the guide. It didn't work.

The solution is to get it out mechanically. IIRC, there is a way to open the tray by sticking a pin in a hole near the tray. However, I could be having Mad Cow and remembering something for a PC.

Found this on another site:
Items Needed: (2) credit cards

Step 1: Make sure the computer is off, but ready to be powered up. The screen does not have
to work. Only the little power light has to be on.

Step 2: Insert credit card A about a 1/4in. into the slot, (closer to the reaer of the computer),
pull the card towards you. it will make contact and gently force a "disc catch" out of
the way. It moves up & down to allow or not allow the disc to come out.

Step 3: Insert credit card B until makes contact with the disc and slides above it. Turn the
computer on and do not allow the disc to spin.

Step 4: While the computer is turning on repeatedly press the "eject" button. Remove credit card
A and B once you hear the computer trying to eject the disc.

Try it at your own risk ...

I found that also.

Here's another method:

and more about the previous method and everything else to try:

EDIT: Here's what I found about the paper clip idea I thought I had seen. Some DVD players don't have the hole outside, so you have to open the Mac. This supposedly includes the MBP's and MBA's. These instructions are for an iBook:

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=50991-en

Perhaps someone can verifiy this.

I'm currently uploading some files, and my www (6u) is quite slow, therefore I couldn't see what MacDawg posted.

OP, do you still have warranty?

Can you bring the MB into the Apple Store and let them handle the problem, it seems like a faulty drive, unless you forced the DVD in and therefore damaged the optical drive.

World peace will be negotiated when my message appears I guess.

Obviously i had to try that. It didnt work though, but ive managed to find out the problem!!

The thing is that the lock a few mm inside wont open when i try to get the disk out. While i had the credit card inside it didnt come out because of the cards of course, but as soon as i pulled them out, the lock poped up..

Thanks for the tips!!

It really to seem like a faulty problem, since the locker wont open.. I am afraid ive damaged the optical drive though, but i'll bought all possible warranties when i bought my mac only 6 months ago, so i have full faith that apple will fix it!! Thank you!
