Sometime in the past few weeks, when the new iOS 13 updates rolled out, two separate people in my home town ended up with bricked iPhones. Pretty sure the issue was, in both instances, the update had been downloaded but the phone was so low on free space that it wasn't able to update properly and got stuck in some loop. Fortunately, the first one I encountered, my aunt's, had been recently backed up and I could enter DFU mode and do a factory reset and then restore from back up.
Literally 1 day after I fixed my aunt's iPad, my coworker stated her iPhone did the same thing. I tried doing and update and restore through finder, using both the standard download ipsw file as well as an earlier, but still signed file, but to no avail. The error message I get is something along the lines of "The iPhone "iPhone" was unable to be restored. An unknown error occurred. (14)" or something along those lines, but the number at the end is 14. And yes I've used generic and certified cables alike to try it. The problem with my coworker's is that she has photos of an anniversary party on her phone that we are trying to recover, which is why I haven't gone through with the hard erase and reset.
My question is -- is there a legitimate program out there that can load the data on the hard drive of the iPhone or access it in some way that I can download stuff while I am still unable to get past the apple logo screen? Once upon a time a few iOS versions ago I had iMazing that had been bundled with some software package I purchased and I remember it being able to access stuff on the phone, but I don't remember at what stage it had to be in. iMazing seemed like it came from a legitimate company, and there are lots of scammy companies out there as well.
Right now, I can get as far as updating with an ipsw about 1/5 of the way through before finder gives me that alert message. The iPhone stays 1/5 of the way through but gets ejected from the Finder side bar. Plugging the iPhone into my mac doesn't make it show up on the console and otherwise it just sits on the Apple logo and cycles on and off until it runs out of battery. It can sit on the support.apple.com/iphone/restore screen with the iTunes logo for a while and stay available in Finder but I haven't been able to find a way into the phone or files through Finder itself.
Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
