I have had a look around Google with no real success.

My iPad is stuck on full brightness, it is brighter than the sun and eats the battery like a fat kid eats cake. None of the sliders do anything; It's jailbroken on 4.2 I believe and I really want to avoid doing a restore because it's a mission to get everything back the way it was with all my apps, books, videos, Cydia apps and so on.

Anyone else heard of this? Cheers!

Thanks, I may well do. I was just checking here, if anyone had experienced this outside of a jailbreak as it happened out of nowhere and I think it may be a hardware thing rather than a software.

I have this problem on an iPad 1, but I've not had any replies helping out.

I think there's another thread even further back from somebody else having a similar issue.

If this is the same problem as mine, there is a workaround.
I find that my iPad backlight is absolutely fine, if I leave it on charge for an hour or two and wake it up.
You can unplug the cable and it behaves perfectly. It's only when I switch the screen off and on that the backlight goes to full brightness.
