Stuck on Headphone Mode

I have a macbook air 2012. I have tried the toothpick method and jamming a headphone inside and out. However, my problem is a little different. There is no red light in the headphone jack and it is stuck in "headphones" not "digital out" like all the other problems seemed to be. Is there a way to force it out of headphones mode? I am running Os X Yosemite.

Kind of related but not totally, just happened on my iPhone 6 and I had to dos fresh restore to the ios to fix it, every other online help method was tried and that was it.
