I ordered a new back for my Iphone 2g with the ribbon cable and metal sides already installed. I installed it and started the iPhone. It showed the headphones were plugged in, no sound from speakers. I plugged in a set of earbuds and the phone speakers started working. I took the new back off and put the old one back on and speakers/earbuds work like they ar suppose to.

I compared the 2 backs and ribbon cables and found the only difference was on the headphone jack. The old one was all black, the new one had a clear film over one side so you could see inside it. The numbers on the ribbon were also the same.

Any clues?

Thanks

Bill
