I swapped the internal HDD with an SSD, it automatically installed OSX Lion through Internet Recovery, automatically, as in I didn't even got the option to choose.

Anyways, so the problem is I'm stuck with OSX Lion, by my understanding if I want to install High Sierra I need to go through an "intermediate OS" first, such as "El Capitan"

So this is what happens:

- I have El Capitan open in the App Store
- I click download
- It says I have to log into my Apple Account
- I put the correct info
- Says I can't login because I need the latest OS to do so

Sooooo......

I can't update my OS because I need to log into Apple, but I can't log into Apple because I need the latest OS to do so.

What kind of sick joke is this?

Same problem if I try to log into my apple account through "my account" settings, already tried.

What was the OS X version on your original HDD?

Normally the best way is to carbon copy clone from this drive into the new SSD, no installation required, and is guaranteed to work since the same OS has worked before.

High Sierra, and I avoided CCC because I had found keyloggers on it.

So what do I do?

Tried creating a High Sierra USB installer using another Mac?

what Mac do you have?

Didn't try the USB thing and it's a MacBook Pro Late 2011.

I got it to work by re-installing the OS along loging into iCloud before the Apple Store, then it allowed me into the Apple Store.

It's installing El Capitan as I writte this, hopefully no more problems.
