stuck on page

I click on safari and go to one of my favorites page but have no way of going to another page only back to home

Try restarting the phone, if that does not work double click the home button, find safari, and hold down your finger and click the "X" button.

I could hold on safari but that page had no x

Are you running iOS 7? Is this with an iPhone or an iPod touch?

When you are on a website try tapping in the phone status bar at the top (perhaps just tap the time that is displayed on the top of the screen) and see if that brings up the address bar and other controls for you.
