I wanted to wipe clean a 2009 Mac Mini I purchased off Facebook. It was running just fine, but wanted to make sure I had my own install due to security reasons.

What I did was make a USB bootable stick with OS X El Capitan on it. Plug that into my Mac Mini then turned it on pressing the option button. Then I selected it to boot from the USB stick. It then booted after taking 2 minutes or so into Utility screen. I then went into Disk Utility and erased the main drive. I exited Disk Utility then went to 'Install OS X 10', it starts the install but get stuck on the screen below. Did I do anything wrong? Please help!

Ah, interesting. It's worked now. I went and played video games for 2 hours, came back and now it's onto the next part.

Yeah, it often just takes a long time sometimes. If you're on a hard drive (vs. an SSD) the delay can be a lot more pronounced.
