Trying to update to Sequoia, I have been sitting at the message “This update will take several minutes to complete…” for 2 hours so far. The screen does go black, and it can be woken up with the keyboard, and I can see the mouse moving.

Anyone else see this? Should I wait it out, or power off and try to reboot?

I'd apply the 14.7 update and see if that goes through.

Then... if you're still interested in Sequoia -- try again.

A number of users who had problems trying to upgrade have reported that doing one or both of the following helped:
- sign OUT of iCloud
and/or
- TURN OFF "find my Mac" (if it's turned on).

No promises.

I updated successfully today.
Find my Mac was already turned off.
I did apply 14.7 first, and that probably did the trick as it forced a reboot, which is what I probably should have done before trying to update to 15. It has been a couple weeks since I restarted my iMac.
