I've got a stuck pixel on my new mbp. It's pink and in the top-middle of the screen such that I immediately noticed it. It would be quite annoying if I stuck with it. Can I bring it back to the apple store and have them replace the laptop with another? Thanks.

If it's new enough, you can always return it and get a new one.

Have you tried massaging the offending pixel? That sometimes helps. Try looping a video like this over the stuck pixel, too.

Not sure, but Apple normally won't change it for only one dead pixel.

But it is worth the try.

If you are really evil, you can take a small hammer, knock a tiny dent into one of the corners, then call them and said your MacBook Pro came with a cosmetic defect.

No need to argue about dead pixels policy that way. Saves time and energy.

Something tells me you have experience with this.

Massage (they feel good)

I've had three cases of stuck pixels :( , 2 occurred on a LimeGreen iBook G3 and the third occurred on my PB G4. In all three cases a light massaging of the area with my thumb cured the problem.:D

Generally a stuck pixel can be differentiated from a dead pixel because it usually sticks on a specific colour. (red which occurred twice for me)

Hope that works for you, post back your results.

It's definitely worth a try. I've successfully done it.

If it's just stuck, though, a light "massage" really will do the trick sometimes, despite some folks saying it doesn't work. My 15" C2D started showing a stuck (blue) pixel about two months after I bought it. Light massage fixed it. It comes back every now and then, the exact same pixel (and always stuck on blue), but is always fixed the same way. Come to think of it, I haven't seen it for several months now.

I have that similar problem too when I got my MBP last week. I tried to phone the online support thing but they will not exchange one for me. I just hope that they can get it done when I bring it over to the authorized service provider.

Strange, I have the same problem as my own new MBP right in the middle top. I'll try these solutions. But I think my pixel is more dead than stuck. It's pretty black.Thanks.

I was under the impression that once you buy a mac, you deal with apple and the machines warranty protection.

I've looked at at several dealers decided who to buy from and they state that computers are non returnable. Except for maybe outright shipping damage, I suspect.

Massaging works  Meh, I better not try it. My wife walked in on me sniffing the back of my MBP one time coz a thread here was talking about that new Apple smell and I was curious.
