I'm so frustrated trying to set up a new user account on my iMac that's running the latest OS X.

Basically i want a 'clean' account that has everything that my main account has, minus the porn, dirty pics/vids etc lol

Been trying the iTunes home sharing thing, activated it on my main account and the new 'clean' account, but can't get any media to come up.

Also tried moving the iTunes media folder, like it says on the apple website, to the 'shared' folder, but nothing comes up on new 'clean' account

On the new account, there doesn't seem to be a 'user' folder. It doesn't come up in finder.

I keep logging in and out of both accounts trying different things, but nothing works. Please help. I thought macs were supposed to be user friendly

Try creating another new account. Perhaps something went wrong with the first process.

I just created another new account, this time with administrator privileges, and when i logged on and went in to finder, there was no user folder.

Where are you looking for a User folder? The path is:
/Users/Shared/
/Users/user 1/
/Users/user 2/
Open Finder to where you're looking, then take a screen shot and post it.

This is the screenshot of when i open up the Finder while in my main account.

My username 'xxxxxxxx' is the name of my user folder and is visible. The Shared folder is also visible here.

When i create or open an existing account, regardless of it being administrator/standard/managed account, and open up Finder, there is no user folder available to be seen. When i search for 'user' in the search box nothing comes up unless i change the search from 'all my files' to 'on this mac'. Even then, a 'Users' folder appears with the usernames folders inside and also the shared folder inside too. Clicking inside this shared folder reveals none of the files that are inside the shared folder on my main account.

I can't read the print on that screen shot. I recommend you use List view, rather than Icon view, as some files/folders may not be visible in Icon view.

I'm not sure where in Finder you're looking for those folders, but don't look on the left sidebar. Click on Macintosh HD on the left, then look for folders on the right side.

OP, all you're seeing is what's placed in the sidebar by default. The Home folder is a concept Apple's trying to take the focus off of, because the file system is something they eventually will likely try to hide from the user altogether. "All My Files" is the default view, and is a sorted Smart Folder, essentially. Your Home folder no longer appears in the sidebar by default, but you can add it by going to Finder -> Preferences -> Sidebar and clicking the checkbox for your Home folder. You can also change the default new window view from All My Files to your Home folder in the General section of those same preferences.
