So I've preordered an iPhone 6, it's already available at the Apple store. I just haven't picked it up since I've been waiting for the lines to die down.

After looking at my bill and doing some math, I realized that it makes more sense fiscally if I purchase the iPhone outright for $750.

I purchased the 6 with a renewed 2 year contract for $300. When I go to pick it up, can I have them change it to an outright purchase for $750? Or am I stuck with the 2 year contract now?

Thanks so much for help!

Who's your contract with? When I checked with ATT, it showed that my contract began the day I preordered (last Friday), not today, when I got it. You may already be under it.

Hmmm. Yea I have AT&T as well. Oh well. I'm only paying an extra $150 over 2 years this way. It's not the end of the world I suppose haha.

When I picked mine up at the Apple store today I asked if it was possible to pay the full price instead of the subsidized cost from my preorder. Turns out it was possible, the specialist had me go through the normal process and then immediately returned it and let me repurchase the returned device for full retail. He said i would have to use the SIM from my iPhone 5, but when I turned the 6 on my service had already swapped over. It's worth asking if you'd really prefer to pay full price. It adds about 10 minutes to your time in the store, but it is possible.

Edit: I should add this was with AT&T service.

Ahh, that's super encouraging! Thanks!

150 is only 6.25/month. Go with whats affordable. A big lump sum upfront or a $6 a month more than normal.
