In reality, he simple extended the discount to another student. High schoolers for the most part probably wouldn't be using the program so there may have been no pricing listed for them until now.

thats badass, I should write a letter asking for a macbook pro for my photography class, with cameras and stuff being so expensive and film costing out the ass these days lol.

So he didn't have money for Final Cut but he was able to buy a MacBook, iMac, and 8 Core Mac Pro?

Interesting...

My thoughts exactly.
First class students should take is a class on not expecting handouts because you're a student. I've never uttered the words "I'm a poor college student so I need ..."

Similar to the situation I'm in; I've been saving for years to get my Mac Pro once they go Nehalem, and I won't have money left over to trick it out with pro software once I've purchased it.

Except in his case, I'm pretty sure he was still loaded anyway.

And in case you're wondering, the Core 2 iMac is our family computer and the MacBook Pro is really my mom's. I just get to use it in the interim before my Mac Pro starts existing. Then it's back to my iBook G3 for portable stuff until Apple releases the MacTablet.

I'll probably just forgo having ANY mobile power, leave my iBook G3 at home and go with the ultimate combination:

Nehalem Mac Pro & eMate 300

I love that little thing. You can VNC through the Newton OS, right? :p

They'll hand out free software but they won't even fix my iPod touch that they damaged?

Nice logic, Apple...
