I get a 15% off student discount and wondering whether I will have to go to AT&T to get that applied or if it could be done at an Apple store.

I would much prefer going to the Apple store if possible.

Looking for a white one. :)

I don't think the student discount applies to iPhones or even iPods does it? Even if somehow yours does, I'm sure you'll have to go to the Apple Store to get it. My student discount only applies to Macs and Software.

No hardware discounts on the Apple iPhone period. No exceptions.

If you mean 15% discount on you monthly bill than you have a fan account.

You cannot but iPhone in retail Apple store with FAN discounts. You will have to buy the phone in ATT corp. Store.

Other option is to temp. Remove your FAN discount wait for 24 hours and than go to apple store and buy iPhone and than reactivate your FAN discount.

it can be done in less than 24 hours, representatives in the store can do it instantly or contact AT&T in front of you and have it removed

for a more smooth transaction I would do it yourself at home however, otherwise you'll be stuck in a line for fixing activations :)

I am not a current AT&T customer. So I can just go to Apple, buy the phone and setup the plan, then contact AT&T to get the discount?

is the iPhone even eligible for a FAN discount? I added one to my account awhile ago, but I never saw a discount on my bill.

I have the FAN discount. Don't do it over the phone, AT&T is confused and told me "you can't do it with the new iPhone, you could do it with the old.." which we all know is backwards!

I'm frustrated as I wait for my local AT&T store to get more in. I have a FAN discount number so I have to wait for the AT&T store. I went to my local Apple store and they are in stock. Very frustrating!!!

I will be signing up for a new AT&T wireless account, as this will be my first cell phone with AT&T. Never owned an iPhone before.

Wish Apple would allow me to use my FAN number in their store without making it difficult.

You can buy the iPhone at Apple and then go to AT&T to get the discount. I just got off the phone with AT&T...

Lovin' my new white iPhone :)

Do I have to sign up for a plan in the Apple store before I head over to AT&T? Adjusting the plan after I signed up wouldn't be a problem?

Precisely!

Go to Apple, get the plan you want, then head over to AT&T to get your discount setup. :)

Yes, purchase the phone at Apple. You will have to pick a plan and any addition features that you want, now you have choice.

You can go to the AT&T store to have the FAN discount appled to your account. The discount goes on the account not the phone line, since you can have multiple phone lines under an account. Make sure you have a photo ID from your school.

Another option is apply your FAN all by yourself. If you have a school email address you can go to this page, enter your school email address and follow the instrutions that are sent in the email.
