Hi All,

I'm a student at UPenn interested in buying a new 17-inch: 2.53GHz base model Mac Book Pro listed on the main page and was wondering what the best discounted price would be.

Retail: $2,299.00
Student Discount: $2,099.00
Student Developer Discount: ?

I've read about the one time student developer discount here: http://developer.apple.com/programs/adcbenefits/faq.html and was wondering how much of a discount I would receive from it in comparison to a normal student discount.

The ADC discount varries. On the highest end MBP I believe it was 20%. The downside is that (I believe) Apple got rid of it once they created their new developer system.

Yes, the new developer program does not include a hardware discount anymore... unless: you had signed up for a developer account before the change was made and have not used the hardware discount yet. In the end, you save more money the higher end the hardware you buy. So for example, the developer discount versus the student discount for a 13" Macbook... not too significant at all. Mac Pro with all the bells and whistles? You'll save a good amount of money.
