Hi!

As the title suggests I use a studio display with my MacBook pretty much exclusively, I know I should have gone the desktop route!

Usually I disconnect the USB C cable from the computer after each use, but yesterday I decided to just leave it in, whilst I know for battery health constantly charging is a big no no but I usually turn the power off at the mains as it can be a few days or even weeks before I use it again.

Is this an okay practice to start doing instead of unplugging all the time? As I know the studio display doesn't have a "shut down" option per say, everywhere I've looked online has been pretty much no help and I would hate to confuse any issue with my display in the future doing this!!

Thanks! 😊

Just turn on optimized charging and when connected to a studio display it will enter it a lot sooner.

I have dual displays connected at all time you can see the optimized charging symbol in the battery health when it works.

Yes thats fine.
I would recommend installing Aldente though, and capping the battery at 80% so it doesn't charge beyond that (unless you want it to).
That way it always stays at 80% while docked (no need to switch off at the plug), and if you do ever need to move it away you can select the option to top up to 100% before unplugging........
