Hi all,

I ordered a studio display and had a question about its potential audio quality
I current use an audioengine d-1 dac and that is connected to a pair of audioengine a2 speakers. (All currently hooked up via a dock to my 2016 mbp)

I will also be getting a Mac studio.
When I get the display do you think it be better using just the display 6 speakers or still go with my audioengine setup?

Thanks

Hard to say when nobody has heard the Studio Display yet, but in general there are physical limitations to putting speakers into a display like that. The A2s are pretty small already so the physical difference might not be huge though. My best recommendation is to get the AudioEngine A5+ instead - they're great, haha

I use the iFi Zen DAC 2 with my M1 Mini and love it.
Ordered the Studio display but won't expect it sound as good as the 150W 3 speaker system...

I was thinking about when listening to Dolbly Atmos stuff with the 6 speakers - that might sound better than my current 2 speaker set up
Guess I will try without first and see how it goes.

I'm just got done comparing my A2 speakers to the Studio Monitor. Source is Apple Music, listed to a bund of stuff, spacial/non-spatial and Youtube TV.
The A2's are connected to the headphone jack at the back of my new Mac Studio.

The A2's are clearly a better sound.
More lively, less tinny, more base. More range..
I was really really hoping the monitor would have been just as good to clear up my desk.....

For those that us a DAC... I could only wonder how much of a difference would it make?
