Hey,

anybody else noticed something like this?
I noticed it for the first time today after a few weeks with the new display. It comes and goes on random occasions, spanning different softwares and it goes away if I quickly switch between audio outputs, as proven by the video.

Can this be broken hardware of a software bug?

Unplug the display (from the power outlet), and then plug it back in. It won't hurt to shut down the computer while you do this.

It's the only way to reboot the display at this time, and it clears many audio gremlins.

My first unit would do this pretty often, it seems to be really picky with the power outlet, try running it through a high quality surge protector

IDN, but as for me it sounds like this problem is linked to power.
Or water damage (even from steam) but this is not that story

I've said it in another thread…I think this is Apple's first external digital audio device and owners of it are seeing what it's like for owners of third-party audio devices. It happens now and then and a restart, unplug/replug of device or a reset of CoreAudio is what third-party owners have always done.

Perhaps now that Apple has this device they'll figure out a way to keep it from happening. They didn't have much motivation before.
