Are the USB-C ports on the back of the studio display able to fast charge the iPhone/iPad? I can't find out the wattage, all the specs just say they can provide power to peripherals, but no wattage specs.

Interesting question. It says the Thunderbolt port has 96W, but doesn't say for the USB-C ports. But then again, I don't think they list the wattage for USB-C ports on any Macs either in the tech specs.

I remember reading somewhere that the other ports are 15w, but I'm not sure, also they don't output anything when the display is off.

Anyway know a way around this? I'd love to charge my devices while the display is off

I recently got an Apogee Duet 3, which is 15W bus powered, and it doesn’t work from the display. There’s no error, and it shows up, but there’s no audio playback.

Apogee said they had noticed that in support requests and filed a bug with Apple, but it’s unclear what that will lead to.

I couldn’t find specs for the display, though I think it’s relatively common to run bus-powered devices off of monitors like this or the lg 5K, so maybe it’s addressable with a software update.

I'm getting 11.4–12.2W @ 4.6V charging my iPhone with a cable that I know would do more than 12W on another charger. Meter is a little 'Jadebones' brand USB-C male to female passthrough device. It says it supports 240W PD.
