Does anyone know how to change the behavior of Stuffit Deluxe so when I double-click on a compressed file, it expands automatically instead of launching Stuffit??

you cant. I am hoping in tiger it has this capabilitiy.

I think it can do this with .zip files actually.... Not sure though.

You could find instances of the file types you want to change, Get Info on them, and change the default application for all, namely Stuffit Expander.
