How can i zip/compress a file???
i tried to use stuffit expander 10.0 but i can't find out what to do...
shoul i use some other application?

Ctrl-click or right click on the file or folder and choose "Create Archive of..." to zip it...the function is built right into the OS!

Stuffit Expander expands compressed files. It does not compress files. To compress files with Stuffit, you need Stuffit Standard or Stuffit Deluxe.

StuffIt Standard is also $50.

Moral of the story - archiving comes with OS X now so there's no reason to pay StuffIt just to compress files. Granted, StuffIt offers more formats and the demo version always works, but for most users it isn't necessary.

As far as I know, the compression schemes for zip and stuffit files are incredibly similar - thus by buying stuffit for $50, you get very little performance improvement. You will need it for a lot of program downloads though!
Having said that though, a lot more apps are now bundled as compressed disk images. (You can also make these for free with disk utility).
And yes, it's incredibly easy to make .zip files in os X
