does leopard not come with it? my buddies helped setup my macbook wheni first got it... hooked me up with office 04 and photoshop but i THOUGHT my mac came with stuffit... but when i installed leopard yesterday i noticed that it was gone (i did an erase and install)

is stuffit a 3rd party app or does leopard just not come with it?

Stuffit is a third party App, but it was bundled with older Macs, you can download it, or use the Unarchiver.

I don't think it's ever been bundled with OSX. Do you need stuffit, or just expander? Expander is a free download.

just need something that will open .rar files and other such things... so i guess expander will do.

Yeah, Expander will work fine. Or Unarchiver. There are a number of solutions. But I've found the latest version of Expander to be very quick.

get macpar deluxe for all your .rar and .par and .par2 needs. It can open them and create them.

**shudder** StuffIt. What a dreadful product and horrible website. You can't download from them without signing up (at last check anyway, I gave up on them a loooong time ago). I've used The Unarchiver with great success.
