Stupid Exposé Question

Very bizarre--last night, exposé was working fine. Four finger swipe down showed all open applications in thumbnails. Today, Four finger swipe up does the right thing--moves everything out of the way--but down moves all windows to the upper left hand corner (out of sight) and activates the dock. Nothing in settings has changed. Four finger swipes still set for up/down exposé; all settings within exposé are as they were. Does anyone know what it could be? I rely pretty heavily on the function and this is beyond annoying for me.

hmm if it disapears off of the screen it sounds like it thinks that it thinks theres another display? have you connected your mac to a monitor before?
