Just bought an iPod Mini which I was hoping to use as a media jukebox -- if only I could get the media onto it. I synched everything up with my M2 Macbook Air as best I could figure out, and thankfully the playlists made it over with all the tracks in order (unlike the cheap Chinese mp3 players I tried). Unfortunately, the actual tracks weren't so lucky. Several albums have this or that song greyed out and unavailable, which makes no sense to me; if the rest of the album made it over fine, what's with these aberrations? I would try to force them over manually, but simply dragging individual files over the iPad doesn;t seem to do anything. Advice?

You are not stupid. Apple deprecated this functionality year over year to the point of pullimg your hair out. I consider it broken by design.

Your best bet is to install an app like Doppler, copy your MP3 files in its folder which is created after the first start on your device. The folder is found via the Files app in the On My Device section.

Back in the iTunes days it had “Manage music and content manually on this device” setting or smth like that. Try to search it in finder settings. Then you drag and drop mp3 into music folder
