put (x^2) maybe?

does typing ^2 automatically change it to the superscript?
In grapher (applications > utilities) it does..

Also is there any program for osx which emulates a ti-83 or 83 plus? I have a ti-89 but I dont know how to use it or make graphs lol.

Not that I know of, but Grapher is a) already on your computer, and b) pretty easy to grok.

It's in /Applications/Utilities/Grapher.app

Lol grok I read stranger in a strange land too. In grapher shift 6 turns into a wierd rectangular symbol.
