Well I don't care for the new Launchpad replacement (b/c of the little window), so I'm resigned to half using Spotlight and half using the Applications on the dock method. But then now I have to have a blue applications folder on the dock that kind of ruins the vibes. So I came up with this hack.
In Finder, right click on Applications in the sidebar and select Add to dock (if you haven't done this already) . Navigate to Applications. Click on Apps.app and drag it in place while holding Option. This will create a shortcut in Applications to the Apps app. Do it again a couple more times. Rename the shortcuts to 0.app 1.app 2.app. Right click on the Applications icon in the dock and select Stack. Voila.
I suppose I could create an Applescript app that does nothing and assign an icon to it. That'll get rid of the shortcut arrow. But it's bedtime.
