Probably a stupid question, so apologies...

But can I have an AWU on an LTE plan; but NOT have an iPhone as my main phone (ie main SIM in a Pixel Fold) - but buy a cheap iPhone to aid setting up the AWU?

I'm using my Pixel Fold as my phone currently; both personal number (physical SIM) and business number (eSIM) on that device as sick of carrying around 2 phones (ie 15PM alongside)

I use the Fold ALL the time; rarely used my 15PM so sold it on...

But really missing the AWU (which I sold on also)!

So, can I buy a cheap iPhone + an AWU, set it all up; LTE connection active on the AWU; but revert to having both my numbers on my Pixel Fold and the AWU will work as it should with no issues?

The Watch is an accessory to the iPhone (which you wouldn't be using at all), what exactly would you use it for?

For now the iPhone would be just that... However I did use my 15PM a lot for Apple TV, AirPlay music etc - but I worked around that with my Fold...

But simply; the iPhone would be used to set up & manage the AWU

As for the AWU; I used that a lot of training, walking, actioning stuff around the house etc

In theory, you could put your SIM into the iPhone, use that to activate the service on the Watch (as it uses the same phone number) and then move the SIM back into Fold. You'd have to try it and see what happens.

That's what I'm thinking...

Only thing to be very conscious of is, if you get a cheap iPhone, the watch will only update its OS on the latest version the iPhone can support even if the watch is newer and can take it.

Was thinking of getting one of the more recent iPhone SEs just to use as a base

They're supported well enough

I've given up in the end; couldn't get on with the Samsung Watch and got bored of having 2 numbers on one phone very quickly 😂

Got my 15PM back and treated myself to an AWU2
