stupid question.. shh and sftp

Ok.. question. On my mac in the sharing preferences I checked ssh. After I did that I told Fetch (sftp and ftp client) to connect to my computer using sftp. It seemed to work fine. Is that all I have to do to have secure filesharing connection to my computer?
