Stylus and Case Questions

I have this case for my iPad;

And noticed yesterday that with the brightness up full and AirPlay on and my iPad connected to my ATV, my iPad got pretty warm/hot.

Is this normal, or is that the case/my iPad? I take my case off when charging.

Also, I have the Wacom Bamboo Stylus, but I'm a bit hesitant on using it because of the metal on the stylus above the tip. Are there any reports of it scratching an iPad, or is it okay to use?
