you probably do better on www.lowendmac.com to find answers to your questions regarding machines that old.

all ibooks have USB. even the first clamshell ones had usb.
I joined the Mac side when Tiger just came out, so i don't know much about OS 9, but i do know that the "sweet spot" for clamshell ibooks in terms of modern OS is 10.3 (panther)
maybe the best you can hope for is convert things to pdf and then print it on a different computer.

If that's the case then lots of USB printers are supported under OS 9. Epson (Stylus) and HP (LaserJet) are two of the big names. You can check their Support & Downloads pages to see which models have OS 9 drivers.
