This question has been asked many times on other sites on internet but I have not come across a single solution.

The problem is when I compose a new email in gmail the subject line gets populated with subject lines I have used in past. If I press down arrow I can see all the subject lines in a scrollable list. I want to clear this list.

I am using Safari on Mac OS.

Thanks in advance.

I assume you mean you're accessing Gmail through the web interface, as opposed to using a mail client app. If so, go to Safari > Preferences > AutoFill. What are your settings there?

That's correct, I am opening gmail in safari browser.

Under Safari > Preferences > AutoFill I have all three checked other than credit card, but I have cleared everything in here, but still it picks up subject lines that are even more than a year old!

I think what you are seeing is a function of Safari and not Gmail. I have Other Forms UNchecked and it does not save those subject lines for me. Maybe try a Safari restart after you uncheck.

Hello Community,

RE: Eliminating a repetitive manual copy & paste process within Apple Mail on the Desktop.

I need a key in the form of an I.D. number autofilled into the Subject line when forwarding to a specific email address saved in Contacts.

It would be a help if the I.D. number was autofilled at the beginning of the Subject line, which is usually a little cluttered with a description of the forwarded message.

The I.D. number was added to the Notes field when the email address was created in Contacts.

Copying the I.D. number from Notes within Contacts and pasting the I.D. number into the Subject field while composing the email seems cumbersome when I am forwarding ten or twenty messages. Lots of "Command V-ing".

From within the Notes field in Contacts, is it possible to encapsulate the I.D. number is some form of subject line autofill script so a little macro is run whenever the specific email address is entered in the Recipient field?

Emails to this particular recipient are rejected when the I.D. number is not entered in the Subject field.

Thank you.
