hi i'm looking for a subtitle encoder that won't blow up the output file (MP4 + .srt to MP4 hardcorded) to a ridiculously large size.
currently i'm working with roadmovie and i have this one movie (MP4, 1080, x264) that is +- 1.76GB before encoding, that blows up to 5+GB after encoding (roadmovie export to: Apple TV 1080p).
Why doesn't the file stay roughly the same size (1.76GB)? How can i use an encoder in such a way that the file stays roughly the same size (yet do 1080p)?
the size is manageable when export to: Apple TV 720p (eventhough the output file is bigger than the source file aka bigger than 1.76GB), but i want to 1080p to 1080p.
Handbreak seems to work a bit better but still ads a full 1GB to the size and the quality 'seems' (i'm not sure if my mind is playing tricks on me, hence 'seems') to be a bit less than with roadmovie.
iVI doesn't seem to do MP4 to MP4 conversion (to MP4 with hardcoded subs). for some reason it says 'conversion finished in..' but the destination folder stays empty.
i'm kinda happy with the result of roadmovie in terms of quality & speed, but the size is too much (storage probs).
any input would be appreciated. thanx.
