Subtitles in dvd player Will not go away

ok in DVD player the subtitles (apple's not the dvd's ie i can turn off the one from the dvd but the program is producing a set that refuses to go away)

permissions have been repaired... ive tried muting and un muting, logged out logged in, not dvd specific (does it to everything i put in there)

its really a pain

any ideas?

Same problem

Someone have an answer? I bought a DVD and thought it was messed up and returned it. Now I'm on another DVD and its doing the same thing and I'm upset that i returned the first one because it was on sale and I can't get them to go awayyyyy
