This may be a super simple question/process, but I am seeming to have a tough time accomplishing this. I want to do a fresh clean install of Catalina on my system.

I followed the instructions available here:

I created the USB installer of Catalina per the instructions listed there. I then rebooted the Mac Pro into Recovery mode and used the Startup Security Utility to allow booting from external devices and left the security settings on “medium”. I then rebooted, pressed and held option, and picked my USB installer. I can see that Mac OS is trying to boot into the drive but the Apple logo seems to just “hang” for a few minutes before the computer reboots into the main SSD on the Mac Pro.

I thought there may have been a problem with the flash drive or the installer and so I re-downloaded the installer and re-created the installer drive (trying a different flash drive to make sure the first one was not defective) but ended up with the same result.

Any thoughts?

What have you done.........to warrant a complete re-install on such a new machine?
