Out or nowhere today, audio is failing between my Apple TV and Sony soundbar. The volume slowly turns itself down to zero. It won’t let me turn it back up over 2 (tv sound level 2), and then turns itself back down to 0/mute. No settings changed. No updates available. Apple TV says I have a good hdmi connection. Other devices play audio fine through the soundbar, so I know it’s working.
When the volume is going down, the light on my tv flashes like it does when I’m pressing the buttons to control volume. So it’s like the Apple TV is sending a “lower the volume” signal on its own for some reason.

Anyone have any experience with something like this?

Well, that was weird. It seems my Apple TV remote was stuck sending a volume down command but through IR only. Resetting the remote took care of it.

That's happened to me too - I thought was a critical low power issue but charging the remote up seemingly made no difference.
