Sudden death of G4 leopard - blue screen

I was running Firefox, watching YouTube, and suddenly my browser started beachballing endlessly. I force quit it, but it just would not die, so I stopped everything I was running, and did a restart.

When it came back up it did the logo screen with the little wheeling thing for a long time, then the screen went to that light blue, and just stayed there permanantly. It will not get past that blue screen. It just sits there and nothing happens.

I've tried starting over, but that's as far as it ever gets. What might have happened? Is it fixable?

Have you tried booting it into safe mode?

I had this a while back. I fixed it by using Disk Utility and repairing a load of disk permissions.As yours won't boot, you'll need an install disk - run disk utility from there.
